Submit to the Centennial Reader.
It’s time for an eco-issue. We’re not necessarily looking for a typical eco-essay. You can tackle the issue straight on or explore the wide, less-obvious impacts our eco-consciousness on the Canadian mind. Show us how eco leaks into relationships, the market place, or your own life. Surprise and entertain us with a smart, research-based essay, or an insightful personal essay. Send us original your original essays by April 30, 2012.
We recycle, too. If you’d like to send us your previously published pieces, we’ll pay a small fee for the right to reprint them.
The Mount Royal Centennial Reader straddles both worlds: the academic world and the popular publication world. Submissions should therefore apply intellectual thought to topical concerns, offered in an entertaining and popular way.
We are looking for essays that use academic research, written to reach a thoughtful, popular audience. Articles should not be written to an academic audience; neither are the submissions to be newspaper articles. For examples of the type of article we’re looking for, please see our current issue at (http://thecentennial.ca).
All submissions will be subject to an interdisciplinary peer‐review process.
Submissions are open to any Canadian. We will accept submissions in two categories:
- Long essay submissions: For longer essay submissions, contributions should be between 2000 and 4000 words (or longer). Contributors are paid 200 Canadian dollars for their essay, upon publication.
- Short essay submissions: contributions should be 1000 to 2000 words long. Contributors are paid 100 Canadian dollars for their essay, upon publication.
Completed manuscripts should be submitted electronically, as MS Word attachments, by April 30, 2012 to submissions@thecentennial.ca.
Send your previously published essay to The Centennial Reader.
The Centennial Reader is looking for previously published essays to include as part of its publication. We’reĦe looking for thoughtful essays of interest to Canadian readers (see above).
If you have a previously printed essay, please submit your essays to submissions@thecentennial.ca. Reprints will be selected through a peer review process as part of our normal essay intake, deadlines of October 31, and April 30 of each year.
Donate an essay.
If you'd like to help further the cause of Canadian thought and the Canadian essay, we welcome essays that meet our reprint or submission standards for donation to this cause. Donated essays will be considered by our peer review board to determine suitability for publication.
